Inizio Music is a boutique music school founded by pianist and educator Cheng Xui, who brings over 20 years of international teaching experience. Our studio blends strong classical foundations with modern, imaginative approaches that honour each student’s unique musical journey.

While rooted in classical training, we embrace all genres and forms of musical expression. Our doors are open to learners of every age — from young children taking their first steps in music to adults rediscovering their passion.

Housed in a thoughtfully designed, purpose-built studio in Singapore, we offer personalised piano lessons, early-childhood music programmes, and artist development coaching. Each student is guided with patience, clarity, and intention, because we believe music is not simply a skill, but a lifelong companion that nurtures confidence, discipline, and joy.

CHENG XUI

Cheng Xui is a piano educator with 20 years of international teaching experience across Malaysia, the United States, and Singapore. Rooted in classical training and shaped by contemporary pedagogy, her teaching philosophy centres on building strong musical foundations, cultivating clear musical thinking, and guiding students toward confident, expressive artistry.

She began her musical journey under the guidance of Ms Hau Ping Ping in Malaysia, before receiving a full scholarship to pursue her Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance at Northern Arizona University. During her conservatory training, Cheng Xui studied solo piano and pedagogy under Dr Frank Scott and Dr Janice Chiang Chen-Ju, and received extensive collaborative piano training under Professor Rita Borden.

Her artistic perspective has been further enriched through masterclasses with internationally acclaimed pianists, including Jeffrey Swann (Steinway Artist), Melvyn Tan, Anthony de Mare, Vanessa Perez, and the late Singaporean pianist Ong Lip Tat.

With a teaching background spanning private and group instruction, early-childhood programmes, curriculum design, and performance coaching, Cheng Xui brings versatility and thoughtful intention to every lesson. Across the United States and Singapore, Cheng Xui has guided students of all ages toward award-winning results in regional and international competitions.

As the founder of Inizio Music, she is dedicated to creating a warm, refined learning environment where musicians of all ages grow with confidence, curiosity, and joy.

Our studio is conveniently located at 215C Upper Thomson Road, Thomson Ridge, Singapore 574349, in the heart of the Upper Thomson neighbourhood. Easily accessible from nearby residential areas and major roads, the location allows students and families to fit lessons effortlessly into their daily schedules. With nearby amenities and ample parking available around the building, drop-offs and pick-ups are smooth and hassle-free, whether you’re arriving by car or public transport.

Inside, our studio offers a cozy, welcoming, and distraction-free environment designed to help students feel comfortable and focused from the moment they step in. The warm atmosphere encourages confidence, creativity, and effective learning, allowing students to progress at their own pace. By learning in a calm and supportive space, students can enjoy lessons more fully, build strong foundations, and develop a genuine love for music.
